Below is an archive of CSER news, as well as news from sources of interest to the Systems Engineering community that has been posted during the preparations for CSER 2013.

  • 3/21/2013 -- Congratulations to Leonard Petnga and Mark Austin, from the University of Maryland - College Park, for receiving the CSER 2013 Best Paper Award, and to Matthew Dabkowski, Jose Estrada, Ben Reidy and Ricardo Valerdi, from the University of Arizona, for receiving the CSER 2013 Best Student Paper Award.  These awards were presented at the Thursday evening reception.
  • 3/20/2013 -- CSER 2013 opens with welcoming remarks by conference chair Chris Paredis and keynote presentation by Victoria Cox, former assistant administrator of the FAA for NextGen.
  • 3/19/2013 -- Georgia Tech issues a press release about CSER 2013 on the eve of the conference.
  • 3/19/2013 -- The online proceedings for CSER 2013 have been released by Elsevier. In addition, links to individual papers are now provided from the program page by selecting online version. This version is customized to allow access by both regular browsers and mobile devices so that conference attendees have easy access to papers throughout the conference. A QR code is available in the printed program for direct mobile access.
  • 3/9/2013 -- The final program is released today.
  • 2/21/2013 -- Session chairs for this year's CSER have been announced.  Their names are avalable in the updated program released today.
  • 2/14/2013 -- CSER Organizers are pleased to welcome InterCAX as a sponsor.  InterCAX supplies innovative software and services for model-based systems engineering.
  • 2/12/2013 -- Keynote speakers for this year's CSER have been announced and include Victoria Cox (FAA NextGen), Paul Eremenko (DARPA TTO) and Ann Devereaux (NASA/JPL Curiosity Rover).
  • 2/1/2013 -- Among the awards to be presented at this year's conference will be a Best Student Paper award. To be eligible, the student author must be first author and must present the paper. Nominations from faculty co-authors are due to by February 8.
  • 1/20/2013 -- The preliminary program is now available under the conference program tab, with paper presentations assigned to the various sessions.
  • 1/17/2013 -- CSER Organizers are pleased to announce that the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) and IBM Research have joined as sponsors of CSER 2013. We appreciate the generosity of these two world-class research organizations and look forward to their participation in the conference!
  • 12/26/2012 -- CSER Organizers are pleased to announce the First International Workshop on Enterprise Transformation as an associated event for CSER 2013. ENTR 2013 directly addresses our Enterprises-as-Systems conference topic and will take place on Monday, March 18, 2013. Please check for ENTR 2013 under Associated Events for further information.
  • 12/26/2012 -- The released version 1.0 of the Graduate Reference Curriculum for Systems Engineering (GRCSE) is now available at This release, along with the earlier release of version 1.0 of the Guide to the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK) (see, brings to an end the development phase of the Body of Knowledge and Curriculum to Advance Systems Engineering (BKCASE) project. The BKCASE Governing Board has been formed by INCOSE, IEEE-CS, and the SERC to assume stewardship for the BKCASE products.   • 10/2/2012 -- Several authors have requested extensions, and the organizers have agreed to extend the review manuscript submission deadline until October 8. Any paper currently registered can be uploaded or modified between now and then. The deadline cannot be extended any further, though, due to the needs of the review process.
  • 10/2/2012 -- The Guide to the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK), version 1.0, has been officially released in an online wiki format. You can also download a PDF version of the document from the site. This guide is intended for broad world-wide use. The guide consists of 7 parts broken into 26 knowledge areas, with 112 topics. There are 5 use cases, 7 case studies, and 6 vignettes.   • 9/1/2012 -- Due to high levels of demand, the conference organizers have extended the abstract submission deadline until October 1!
  • 2/10/2012 -- Georgia Tech is selected to host CSER 2013.
